Born From a Love of the Ocean, Inspired in Nusa Penida

Some brands have a story worth sharing. Ocean Armour is one of them.

What began as a love for the ocean became a mission to help protect it, and remarkably, that journey started right here in the waters surrounding Nusa Penida.

Founded by passionate ocean lovers and dive professionals, Australian brand Ocean Armour was born from a moment that changed the way its founders viewed the impact of plastic pollution.

The Dive That Changed Everything

It was a dive at Manta Point, Nusa Penida, one of the region's most extraordinary underwater encounters.

Surrounded by magnificent manta rays in beautiful conditions, the founders were enjoying everything that makes diving in these waters so special.

But as their dive came to an end, the current shifted, bringing with it a heartbreaking sight. The water that had moments earlier been filled with marine life was suddenly overwhelmed by plastic and rubbish.

That experience became the turning point.

Rather than simply witnessing the problem, they decided to become part of the solution.

Turning Plastic Waste Into Something Purposeful

Ocean Armour set out to create practical, sustainable alternatives to everyday ocean essentials.

The result? A collection of quick-drying beach towels and changing ponchos made from 100% recycled fabric, transforming discarded plastic bottles into products designed for life around the water.

Lightweight, compact, absorbent and easy to pack, they're particularly well suited to travellers, surfers, divers and anyone who spends their days moving between the beach, boat and ocean.

But Ocean Armour goes beyond functionality.

Inspired by the Marine World

From manta rays and whale sharks to sea turtles and humpback whales, Ocean Armour's designs celebrate the incredible creatures that inhabit our oceans.

Working with Australian artists, the brand brings marine-inspired artwork to life, creating pieces that reflect the beauty of the underwater world while encouraging conversations about protecting it.

Giving Back to the Ocean

Ocean Armour's commitment doesn't end with recycled materials.

The brand pledges 10% of its profits to marine conservation projects on the Great Barrier Reef, supporting efforts to protect marine ecosystems for future generations.

It's a meaningful reminder that the choices we make, even when packing a beach bag, can contribute to something bigger.

WHY ISLAND PULSE LOVES OCEAN ARMOUR

Here on Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, the ocean isn't just part of the scenery. It's part of everyday life.

It's where we surf, snorkel, dive, fish, explore and experience some of the most memorable moments these islands have to offer.

It's also something we have a responsibility to look after.

Knowing that Ocean Armour's journey began in the waters of neighbouring Nusa Penida makes this partnership especially meaningful to Island Pulse.

We're proud to introduce Ocean Armour to our island community and share a brand whose story connects so closely with the place we call home.
